The beach gets its name because of the famous RamaKrishna Mission ashrama across the beach road from the VUDA Park. The signature Dolphin’s nose, Lawson’s Bay, Vizag Port and the Sight of ships being anchored out is a view to look out for. Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) gives immense emphasis in keeping the beach as entertaining, safe and urbanized as possible. VUDA has taken all the measures to ensure that the appeal of the beach is withheld through all the possible tourist attraction places in and around the beach.

Major attractions of RK Beach

There are certain key places in and around R K Beach namely Matsya Darshini (Aquarium) developed alongside the beach, the old submarine parked which forms a standing museum known as INS KURUSURA Submarine Museum which preserves the Kalvari Class Submarine, a swimming pool, a Yoga village. VUDA also organizes an annual cultural event and tourist festival called as Visakha Utsav to add on to the charm of the beach which is conducted during the end of the year mostly December being the month. Just on the surroundings of R K Beach, we have a Kali Mandir which is one the temples for worshipping goddess Durga which was made by Mr. Dayanand Banerjee in 1984. Kali Mandir later went on to include other deities namely Lord Shiva, Hanuman, Vinayak & Nagendra Swamy.

to the lines of R K Beach. Usually summers appeals a large number of people from across the city and becomes a busy place for kids to hang out, skate, for camel & horse riding. One another time of the year when R K Beach has a peak footfall is during the Navy week where once in a year an event is conducted with Indian Navy performing acrobatics and other stunts, exercises related to Navy Rescue Operations which becomes a rave to talk about. The total length of the sit out developed by VUDA along the beach road from VUDA Park to Coastal Battery is 7 Km’s keeping the large number of visitors in mind. Eastern Naval Command guards & protects the coastline falling on the lines of R K Beach road.
